Master
Lajos Jakab
was born and raised in Hungary and after the Hungarian Uprising in
1956, as a 21 year old, non-English speaking refugee, he arrived
alone in Britain
He
was 7 years old when he contracted Poliomyelitis which
severely affected the muscles in both of his legs. Because of this
affliction and to make
himself strong, as an adult he devised a form of street-defence and
fitness which is unique to him and is now known in many countries
throughout the world. He named it
Jakab Defence and Fitness.
Master Jakab was the founder of the
British Kung Fu Council, co-founder of The British Kick Boxing
Federation and The Martial Arts Commission. Also with Tom Hibbert AMA
secretary, Master Jakab co-founded the British Kick Boxing Board
