The book

Master Lajos Jakab was born and raised in Hungary and after the Hungarian Uprising in 1956, as a 21 year old, non-English speaking refugee, he arrived alone in Britain

He was 7 years old when he  contracted Poliomyelitis which severely affected the muscles in both of his legs. Because of this affliction and to make himself strong, as an adult he devised a form of street-defence and fitness which is unique to him and is now known in many countries throughout the world. He named it Jakab Defence and Fitness.

Master Jakab was the founder of the British Kung Fu Council,  co-founder of The British Kick Boxing Federation and The Martial Arts Commission. Also with Tom Hibbert AMA secretary, Master Jakab co-founded the British Kick Boxing Board
